== Preparation ==

You will receive the zip file with the files upon request from Heidler.

It contains the necessary files:

== Step 1: Close HVS and Services ==

Ensure that processing is stopped and all '''HVS applications are closed'''.

== Step 2: Run Firebird Installer ==

Run the Firebird installer for the higher version (e.g. with right-click -> Run as administrator).

The path is set based on the existing installation. (E.g. C:\Heidler\Firebird)

Follow the installation steps. No special adjustments are required.

== Step 3: Copy DLLs to HVS ==

Copy the supplied DLLs (fbclient.dll, Gds32.dll, DBRFirebird.dll) to the HVS installation directory. (E.g. C:\Heidler\HVS)

Confirm when prompted to overwrite.

Restart the stopped Firebird services.

If errors occur during the update, check whether all services have been stopped correctly and that no other processes are accessing the database. If problems persist, contact support.
